New for Spring 2012, a nostalgic and romantic break for two in Bluebells at The Dandelion Hideaway, Glamping in great comfort with an en suite roll top bath with lashings of hot water and a huge sleigh bed with the fluffiest goose down duvet and an eiderdown to keep snug, plus a tandem to explore the pretty Leicestershire countryside.
Sheltered on the edge of a woodland spinney, which will be carpeted with bluebells in Spring, this very secluded, opulent, “canvas cottage”, called Bluebells, has billowing toile de jouy curtains and vintage-chic furnishings. Eschewing modern day life, this tranquil sanctuary is designed purely for two to spend lazy days sitting in the rocking chairs on the veranda, or reclining on the old fashioned day bed, reading penguin classics, listening to the gramophone, playing board games, spotting birds and star gazing from the telescope, with only the sounds of birdsong, the whistling kettle and the wind rustling in the trees.
The kitchen has a butler’s sink, a wood burning stove with an excellent cooker and a rustic dresser containing everything you need to produce a candlelit feast, even a selection of grandma’s cookery books for inspiration. Local supplies can be bought from the farm’s own Cow Shed Stores, including cheese and milk from the delightful goats on the farm, plus there is lots to forage in the hedgerows and a basket of herbs growing outside. Start the day with freshly laid eggs from the hens and finish by toasting marshmallows over the camp fire.
All guests receive a basket of goodies ready for breakfast in bed on the butler’s tray. Whilst honeymooners are greeted with a homemade farmhouse supper in the oven and a bottle of chilled champagne.
